  1. Sorry for the completely off-topic question, but are you going to continue scanlating Vagabond? Just asking out of curiosity since it's back.

  2. Thanks for scanlating this. Not sure where else to ask this, but I have a question/spoiler for those who have read the manga all the way to the last volume 48.

I don't understanding the ending, did the manga not conclude? In the earlier volumes, it seemed to me that plot involving the person/faction (forgot his name) who killed jiji (grandpa / Gensai Obata) was never concluded and they ended up getting away with it.

And did they really trick Azumi into killing jiji's boss (forgot his name, the one Azumi killed while on a Falconry hunt), or did he deserve to be killed by Azumi (i.e., was him involved in jiji's death)?

I'm aware of a follow up "Azumi 2" manga, but that didn't seem to reference any plots/characters in the 48 volume manga.

    Thanks!

  3. Too much spoilers so I deleted the comment.
I'll reply only to the trick part: yes, Munenori tricked her good, and Kanbee words did the rest. And yes, he gets away with it, simply because Azumi is set between 1615-1617, while he dies in 1646. The author couldn't have killed him for obvious reasons...Moreover, he will appear again and again during the story...even after a certain event...He is involved in so many schemes...

  4. To elaborate on what Guren said: Munenori did indeed set up Tokugawa Ieyasu to be killed, by passing off Obata Gessai's death as a Shogun-mandated assassination.

Munenori was a more noble figure than he's typically portrayed in fiction. Certainly far from the scheming villain most works portray him as.

  5. Thank you both for the insight. I don't mind spoilers, although I understand if you don't want to give out too much spoilers.

To me, it looked like there was no closure with the Munenori storyline with the last volume 48, and seemed to me that Azumi just lives on in her journey, kinda of how Ranma ended (i.e. no closure of the series).

Does Azumi ever finds out that she was tricked when she meets the monk figure later in the series? And does she ever get a chance to avenge Jiji in some way?

    Thanks!

  6. 1) If I remember correctly, we do not see her being told directly, but then she has knowledge of it, so I guess that x told her at some point, to probably win her over his cause and have her go carrying out missions for him. I could be wrong though, it's been many months since I've read the whole thing. I remember their first meeting, but not what they told each other.
    2) Yes, Munenori will pay, somehow.
