Captain Harlock Volume 3- Joint with GWR

And this was a long time coming, wasn't it? It's the end of Leiji Matsumoto's amazing, original Captain Harlock. I highly advise checking out the anime, released legally by discotek Media, for the conclusion of the war with the Mazone as well.

But here...Harlock's battle with the Mazone continue, as well as Zoru of the Tokaga's legacy...and Harlock arrives on his favorite planet to pay his final respects to his greatest of friends. Fantastic characters, wonderful space opera, great art and some good old fashioned drama...it's why we read Leiji Matsumoto.

Thank Ikkyusan for making this release possible. We'll be looking for more editors for right now to help out (with free training!),  and Kazu is back at work! Some Sabu and Ichi's getting done now!

Enjoy this, everyone: Captain Harlock volume 3: END

  2. Thanks very much for completing this, I'm really looking forward to reading it.

I have volume 2, but can you let me know where volume 1 can be downloaded from? I have no idea what groups GWR or OFF are acronyms for.

As much as I like Shotaro Ishinomori, Go Nagai, Mitsuteru Yokoyama and of course the great Dr. Tezuka, Leiji Matsumoto will always be my favorite manga artist. And as much as I've enjoyed watching the Discotek DVD box set, getting to read the original manga in English is going to be a real treat for me. Massive thanks to everyone who made this happen.

    4. Do you mean art wise? I kinda like his style, but I also feel like he's the laziest of the bunch. There's too many talking heads with barely any background and several splash pages to showcase only one big battleship. He also have the terrible habit of never completing his works, often letting the animators take the lead of his works. Like, if it's getting a animated adaption, he just let it away.

But Kazuo Komatsubara did a wonderfull job while adapting his art style for television. It really looks gorgeous.

    5. I mean both his art style and the fact that he's created some of my favorite characters and stories. In quite a few cases the animated adaptations of his work have surpassed the originals, but work ethic aside, we wouldn't have any of these characters and stories in the first place if it weren't for his fertile imagination.

The Captain Harlock TV series is one of my all-time favorites, and I'm really enjoying reading the manga and seeing all of the original ideas that were expanded upon for television. I hope at some point someone gets around to scanlating Queen Millennia and all of the first Galaxy Express 999 manga.

By any chance, does anybody know of a DDL link for the raw (as in : japanese text) version of this?

  9. Ah! I didn't realize the Harlock manga didn't have a final conclusion... Does the Emeraldas manga have one?
